It’s no huge surprise, in 2009 she was the face of Chanel’s Coco Coccoon handbag line, 2010 she performed at their S/S show and she’s been a friend of Karl Lagerfeld’s ever since. Personally I love Lily’s style (her style NOW, that is…not the ball gowns and trainers, urrrgh) and I really look forward to seeing what they come up with, maybe even moreso than the bride’s dress at THE wedding of the year, you know the one.
Today also saw Chanel present their Fall line in Paris.
It was a dark affair, set against what looked like a volcanic wasteland. A lot of the pieces looked slightly dusty, as though a huge ash cloud had rained down. The pieces also erred on the side of masculine, with worker boots and cropped trademark tweed jackets layered over men’s double breasted coats.
Seeing these rounded shoulders & voluminous sleeves a lot in Fall 2011 – see also Stella McCartney
I’m really liking the shoulder, sleeve and neck details on the evening wear, not to mention the different textures of ruffled lace, tweed and embroidered embellishment.
